HOW IT ALL STARTED:

In March 2004, Martin Buchberger observed that step machines achieved 20% more power output than ergometer apparatus at the same user pulse rate. Step by step he developed an automatic gear mechanism and tried it out on numerous prototypes – initially in the family-owned wood turning workshop in Mayrhofen in Zillertal. The current Streetstepper models have been developed in close cooperation since 2005 with German mountain bike makers Hot Chili & D.A.R.T. GmbH, and are unique with regards to ergonomics, performance and reliability.

GEAR MECHANISM:

All Streetstepper models have independently functioning step levers and an automatic gear mechanism. Each step lever drives a cam shaped driving disc which continually regulates transmission and resistance respectively with every step. Industrial freewheels convert the oscillating movement of the cam discs into circular motion. The Streetstepper’s driving mechanism is exceedingly robust as well as being incredibly efficient. The „Streetstepper Sport“ model has an additional 3 gears for improved uphill performance and higher top speeds.
