Just like last time, this year we could do the race with Lupine lightning sets thanks to Evobike. Since we entered with more than one team, we could try a number of light sets on the rally.
The EuroOne-Cube team got Betty 7 lights that performed to our full satisfaction last year. Our second team Cube-Csömör-LUPINE competed with Tesla 4 lights. Let’s talk details.
The sun went down, and so came the time for the lights. The helmet fixation and the strong and long velcros helped putting the lights into their places. The track was already worn out from the many racers by evening time. The roots and rocks, and the brake-residuals made the track line particularly difficult. So it was of uttermost importance that the lights do not come off the helmets. Both light sets had identical fixation and cabling systems. The cable joining points between light and battery and the isolation work safely in rainy weather as well.
For the Betty 7 the regulator switch is found on a distinct cable which is close to the right hand, it can be operated while on track, if brilliance is too high. Continuous pressure is also applied here on the button to regulate light intensity.
We, the EuroOne-Cube team did not use another light, one was enough. The other team was set up with that lamp only, the Betty7 emitted even more light. It is heavier than its little sibling, but the extra power in light it provides makes up for its increased weight.
We had no significant problems with the batteries, while their emptying happened on track, it was a fault caused mainly by our lack of attention. Charging is not too complicated when it comes to the Tesla 4, you only need to plug in the battery to the system. Not so by the Betty 7, one needs to read the manual carefully, because here you can choose from a variety of charging options.
Summarized, both lights are designed to be skillful and sophisticated, we give them a solid A for their on track performance. I think if a light can perform like this in a competition for 24 hours rattling, it will perform satisfactory anywhere else as well.
